Hello all - This is just a quick followup to my post from a week or so ago about my update to jsarlo's joystick external for win32 (my fix exposes the POV-hat) - I've updated the example pd patch es that are bundled with the external to show "hook up" connections for 2 joysticks with different capabilities, a Sidewinder Dual Strike, and a Logitech RumblePad 2. The new .zip is available from: http://www.media.mit.edu/~dmerrill/sw/joystick.zip Send me any questions, comments, feedback, etc.. best regards, -David Merrill
On a related note, Olaf Matthes' [hidin] is now included in Pd- extended, so that's another way to use game controllers on Windows.

Aah, that's interesting, I didn't know that was there already. Will [hidin] eventually expose an identical interface as [hid], so that input devices can be used in a cross-platform manner?
I just tried [hidin] out with my Logitech joystick, and the 4 continuous axes seem to work, but the buttons aren't producing any output.. -David M.

[hidin] is defunct, I don't think anyone is working on it. But it
will be useful as Windows example code for the new [hid] aka [hidio].

Terrorism is not an enemy. It cannot be defeated. It's a tactic.
It's about as sensible to say we declare war on night attacks and
expect we're going to win that war. We're not going to win the war
on terrorism. - retired U.S. Army general, William Odom
