Dear list,
another suggestion for the pile, in case it is not already there:
I am using v0.36 on windows. I noticed that when the find option is used, it looks for the text which corresponds exactly to the written field. Maybe to increase the use of this resource, would it be possible to have:

hi,
i remember that somebody mentioned not long time ago that had connected python to PD (via netsend, netreceive maybe?). It would be great if i could get some simple example or help about how to implement this. I have checked the old pd mails but couldn't find an example or link to documentation.
thanks

http://www.parasitaere-kapazitaeten.net/ext/py/ is a python external for pd (that's what I use anyway)
(via netsend, netreceive maybe?). It would
this is also possible, though I would strongly suggest to use the OSC externals from http://pure-data.sf.net/ cvs and this http://user.cs.tu-berlin.de/%7Ekerstens/pub/OSC.py or this http://galatea.stetson.edu/~ProctoLogic/ (I use the first one if I have to)

http://www.python.org/doc/current/lib/socket-example.html should get you started if you really really want to do it the netsend/receive way..

I'd recommend this method. The FUDI protocol used by netsend/netreceive could be described like this: lists are sent and received as ascii strings that ends with the ";" character and a line feed.

This is actually quite cool! i am very interested on using OSC whenever is possible. But is it bidirectional communication? usually they only send to PD but not the other way around. thanks again!

I think he's referring to stefan's OSC.py which is one way, I don't really kow the other osc for python code (but stefans shouldn't be too hard to adapt to support incoming connections aswell, regexes are also supported so ...)

There is another OSC.py module around indeed. I used it for months (or years) then realized it was by someone else.
