hi all,
i have a suggestion for pd and maybe i can do it with pwd from ben bogart.
so if i have a directory /somestuff with /fx /... i don't have to add those directories for all my other projects (in file -> path). instead i'm just putting a [pd loadbang] with some code that find the path (the part i can do) and add it to pd (the part i can't do). of course, if it's some useful abstractions then i would like to access it everywhere.

Hello List, Hello RME-victims ;-)
I spent quite some time with my good old RME-HDSP-Multiface Combo again.
I am running into trouble after a kernel recompilation on gentoo.
It looks like there is something tricky about the snd-hdsp module, the new hotplug-module and some other things i did not figure out yet.
My last working system was
alsa 1.09rc2 because of bugs in the 1.08 version, as i got to know from the alsa-user list.
Could anyone share his/her experince with that combi (on kernel 2.6.11 ??)
Which combination is working on your system, and i guess there are some little traps in kernel-configuration and various configure-flags in the alsa driver...
Advice is generously awarded with 200 karma-points ;-)
Cheers Luigi
Yeah, I think this is the way to do it. Basically, emulate the Java
name space for Pd: packages mapped directly to directory layout, each
object/class stored as an individual file in that directory layout,
then in each patch, declare with packages are used, and use the object
name. Otherwise you can call the object by the full path name.

arg, pardorah's box is open.
"pwd" in pixelTANGO will be changed to [getdir] from Guenter's directory in CVS. PWD was written by Guenter Gieger and the help-patch by Frank Barknecht. I've only been distributing it since pixelTANGO needed it.
Based on HC's responce all you do is:
[fx/hell]
will load the hell abstraction/object from the folder "fx/" fx/ is NOT in your path, but the directory that contains it is. So make an abstractions/ folder and then subfolder for each "namespace" like fx/ experimental/ etc/ and then get those objects with [fx/dumb] [experimental/popup] [etc/myabst]
Clear?

Hallo, patrick hat gesagt: // patrick wrote:

yes, clear! thank you.
This sometimes also is called the "Geiger namespace", as it was Guenther who proposed using directory prefixes in this way to solve nameclashes. He didn't propose that name, though. ;)
