In that case, as in this one, I think this is a more appropriate document:
http://www.faqs.org/faqs/net-abuse-faq/troll-faq/
Especially the original alt.syntax.tactical FAQ makes for better reading than much of what got posted here as the "sexism" thread "matured". Not to mention the "beer" thread... It reminds me that (in the Northern hemisphere at least) it's not full-on winter yet so maybe people should try to get outside more often instead of starting or responding to witch hunts and political correcting.
In fact, I'm out the door right now.
best, d.

This is true. I am not meaning to troll or bait. Sorry if it came off that way. I just hope we can get past the negativity.

Dude where can I get my hands on that software?! Seriously that looks ripped. Anyone have any idea what the b1257+12 does?

It only runs on OS9 so you need an older Mac.
b1257+12 was a sample mangling patch. I don't recall how many samples it loaded (2?) but it really did not do that much out of the ordinary. It may have had some random walk type of parameter changes and in true NN style the interface was inscrutable.
Plus you had to deal with them to get the thing in the first place. Not a stable or rational group to try and do a transaction with. For example, I am one of two non-c74 employees banned from using Nato for life (the other is Sean Booth of Autechre). NN was amusing then annoying then pathetic in a space of maybe 18 months.

Ah, I see. Oh well! I thought those rotating circle things looked good.

I had to laugh at this!
Thanks for the info, Chris.

I know at least one more: max mailing list admin at McGill (back in the day when Max progressed from MIDI only to Max/MSP and from being owned by Opcode to c74).

Yes and no. NN is a collective. I don't know why that woman claims to be NN in particular, but she is neither of the two incarnations of NN that I know about. I don't know how many people are involved, but I think I've read at least four names, including men, and I'm pretty sure that this list was incomplete.
I don't exactly keep bookmarks on that topic, so, I can't really find where I read that, sorry.

All of the enigma around NN is almost as great as the mystic fog surrounding Crispin Glover and his David Letterman appearances + his music videos in which he invokes the same two characters...far out.
Other than that, Jodorowsky's "The Holy Mountain" is about the most crazy thing in the world.
Waaaaay OT now, blame it on cheap PBR and an out of town gf.

Hrm... who was that? ;-)
Cheers,

I've seen flame wars last for many years. Rather, I've left forums and checked back years later to find it still happening. In one case one of the members had had some kind of legal action against him, apparently for trying to hunt down one of the others.
I wonder at how people stay in (and seek out) situations that directly cause them suffering. A bad marriage isn't always short. I still believe in the internet.
