To Pd-announce:
Pd version 0.48-2test1 is available on http://msp.ucsd.edu/software.htm or (source only) via github: https://github.com/pure-data/pure-data
This test version fixes a number of bugs in Pd 0.48-1.
Source and 32-and 64-bit Mac and Windows versions are available; Mac/PPC and ARM versions should follow later.
cheers Miller

Hi Milller,
I've tried the 64bit Windows version but ASIO drivers don't get listed.
I went ahead and compiled the sources and they got listed and work.
I just did on Msys2(MinGW64):
./autogen.sh ./configure make make app
So there's nothing wrong on the sources, is just something on your compilation.

Oops, you're right, I had compiled it wrong. (Still trying to get a working compile script here.) Meanwhile, I uploaded a new compiled 64-bit version that should find ASIO.

Yes the new one finds ASIO.
Also nice that you're shipping with 64-bit TK 8.6.8.

[pd~] and the [clone] loadbang order seem to work fine for me, but other users may want to test as well!
For the Windows users: [pd~] now works properly when having Pd installed in a path containing whitespace (e.g. "Program Files (x86)").

I found that in recent versions of ALSA, Pd couldn't recover from very bad data late errors (such as when I load a few gigabytes of sound on startup). It never used to recover terribly well, but recently it broke altogether and so I had an easy way to get to the root of the problem.
Things still aren't exactly the way I want them - often data-late errors seem to come in threes, as if the first two resyncs don't quite fix things. I'm hoping to look at this again for 0.49.
Incidentally, I'm in the habit of running two ALSA devices out of sync, one for input, one for output. This is supposed to be a no-no, but I need to use one device for guitar input and a different one for multichannel output. At some point I want to make a way a patch can adjust for this by sensing the slippage and resampling as needed.

I'm not sure but I think the portaudio folks prefer to leave in 'obsolete' calls as long as possible for backward compatibility... I assume they'll react whenever the calls actually disappear (and then I'll have to update Pd accordingly).
I've never been able to understand or circumvent that alloca warning.

To Pd-announce:
Pd version 0.48-2test1 is available on http://msp.ucsd.edu/software.htm
On the website, not all explicitly describe it as version "0.48-2test1", and have no version instead. The macOS version is still mistakenly descirbed as 0.48-1
This test version fixes a number of bugs in Pd 0.48-1.
Regarding bug fixes, I was hoping to draw attention to this one: https://github.com/pure-data/pure-data/pull/205
This is an important fix for 0.48. It's something I was actually bringing up that the issue would come up before the release of 0.48
In short, it's a fix for [declare] so we can declare paths relative to the new location we're using since Pd 0.48 (like ~/Documents/Pd in macOS). Without this fix, the new location Pd suggests on startup is not yet all functional because of this issue.
I understand if there can be concerns that this could "break things", but I just can't see why. It's all backwards compatible and everything, and I've been using it and testing it for a while now. Anyway, please let me know if you're considering having a look at this or if it's too late already.
Here are also two harmless documentation updates I did that I think could be merged for 0.48-2: https://github.com/pure-data/pure-data/pull/359 and https://github.com/pure-data/pure-data/pull/395
thanks
I'm afraid to even breathe on the 'declare' code in a bug-fix release... I'm afraid this will have to wait for 0.49.
cheers Miller
