Hi all, I'm trying to build a jaunty package of pdextended rc3. I get the source from http://puredata.info/docs/developer/GettingPdSourcespecifically the "Pd-extended between releases" (is this correct?)
when i make install && make package I get this error:
/usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lmp3lame
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
make[2]: ***

is this about missing dependency libmp3lame?
I do have installed libmp3lame0 though.
am I doing something wrong? thanks

Hi list, in my attempts to compile on jaunty pd 0.42.5 from the main branch, I got this error with iem16 lib, and I can't understand if it's a missing dependency or something else. It's not the first error I get, I'm managing the missing -dev libs quite good so far, but dunno what to do with this error.
Any hint (and even better a simple explanation so that I can understand the problem for the next time) is very much appreciated. Thanks,

the build-process cannot find Pd's header files. usually they ought to be passed to iem16's configure with the "--with-pd" flag; externals/Makefile should do this for you, but for whatever reasons it obivously does not.

Many thanks IOhannes,
anyone with an experience with Makefile have an idea about why this happens? I took a look at Makefile, but can't go too much into what's happening there. Here the configure..
cd $(IEM16_DIR) && ./configure --disable-library
--with-pd=$(pd_src)
Could it be because of a wrong directories layout on my machine?

If you rsynced the source, you should have everything you need. For
example, you should have this file:
/home/sad/pd-extended/pd/src/m_pd.h
If not, check the rsync instructions: http://puredata.info/docs/developer/GettingPdSource
Basically, run this:
rsync -av --delete rsync://128.238.56.50/distros/pd-extended/ /home/ sad/pd-extended/

Sounds like pidip didn't build. Check the build transcript and find
the last errors. They'll probably be something like complaining that
some .h file wasn't found. So you'd just need to install more
packages ;)

Make sure you have libquicktime-dev installed. This was what solved it for me.

Well, make sure you have libmp3lame-dev installed. For every required library, you need the source of the library for building.
