I just noticed that when I open pd, without a patch and with default settings, it uses 25% cpu according to the Activity Monitor. If I turn on dsp then turn it back off, it drops to almost nothing.
I'm running OS X Snow Leopard 10.6. I first noticed this using the 0.43 devel branch, but then experienced the same thing using the 0.42-5 dmg from Miller's website. Anyone else experiencing this?

Yup, try profiling it with Shark. Basically, its 25% CPU time of idle
calls... if you use Jack, this goes down to a couple percent. Or try
the "callback" function in the audio config.

Hi,
currently in Jack mode it does the reverse - Turn dsp off and the cpu rises!
