Another option would be to use a cross platform app layer wrapper (base stuff, not gui) that handles the pain for us. OpenFrameworks, for instance, uses Poco which greatly eases threading, etc between Windows & Unix. Of course, it's a C++ library, so that's probably a different story with the Pd core ...

I don't agree with it, as I think so much of Pd already runs adequately on Windows to warrant pd~, too, in order to offer free software to as many users as possible.
