Hi list,
When I do GOP stuff, I like putting a colored canvas behind the controls.
However, gui elements created before the canvas appear under the canvas. I found out I can edit the patch file with a text editor and change the order of lines. But it's not very practical and a bit error prone.
Is there another way to change the Z-order of guis in vanilla and extended ?
Thanks,
Select-all, then deselect the canvas, then cut then paste. That's how I do it. pd-l2ork has commands for send-to-front/send-to-back, that would be great to get included in Pd-extended. Its just a matter of someone doing the work... and my time is limited these days.

haha i ruined an entire pd patch once while trying to force a canvas to the back using a text editor it took quite a while to get all the cables connected back up correctly

or even better: use "undo" rather than "paste". this allows the cut objects to stay connected with objects outside the selection.

Except in both cases you still lose the object state. Pd-l2ork's tofront/back is the way to go if you can.

Cut the object, then paste it to put it in front.
