hi list
does anybody has experience working with a quattro and pd, either via oss-emu alsa or jack.
i have installed a 2.4.25 low-latency pached system and most aps are running smooth with jack (eg. hydrogen), but pd does not, sound is really distorted. (test-osc)
without jack, pd has quite a lot dropouts. it does not matter if i run it as su, su -rt, or user. xmms runs without problems using alsa.
so far i was not able to use a frames/period other than a power of 2, which would be needed to get best performance (low latency) with this card. but that's a jack thing, probably someone has managed to work with this, would be interested with jack version is used to do so.
can someone profide me his working -pd start flags (blocksize etc.) for this card.
info: 2.4.25 low-latency jackd version 0.98.1 default tmp directory: /dev/shm Pd version 0.37.1 devel compiled 10:08:52 Jun 14 2004 alsa-cvs-2004-06-19 (m-audio big-little-endian issue fixed)
thanks a lot marc

Did you try you running at a samplerate of 48 kHz or 96 kHz?

hi
via jack i tried both sampleartes 48 and 96kHz. if i reduce db, it sounds clean and good, but still i get clicks probably because of dropouts, but i have no xruns in jack.
i still can not manage to get my card working in duplex mode. i have .asoundrc configured as mentioned on the alsa page, i can see all modes possible in /proc/asound/card/stream0/1.
what is experience? do you use it mainly via jack, or with oss-emu or alsa. which gave you the best performance, actually jack should it be, or am i wrong.
i'm running out of ideas. if you could provide me with your setting, like distro, version, patches, config-files i can try to set it up as similar as possible. can it be that because my laptop (dell 8100) seems to support just usb 1.1 that the bandwith is just not enough for this card???
any help would be appreciated. marc
