Hi,
I just spent about 30-40 minutes trying to figure out how to get a
writable svn checkout.
Is there any way someone could add that info to one of the multiple
pages that try to instruct you to get the source?
http://puredata.info/docs/developer/GettingPdSource
http://puredata.info/docs/developer/SourceRepositories
http://puredata.info/docs/developer/SVNCommitAccess
For developers like myself who only make occasional commits,
something like this would really help. There are too many version
control systems and frameworks to remember how to do everything,
everywhere. A few simple command line examples would really help.
thank you -august.
How about I write it in an email, and you try it. If it works for
you, add it to those wiki pages with the fresh newbie's perspective.
I think this should work:
svn co --username myname https://pure-data.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/pure-data/trunk/

- --username is your sourceforge username
- it must be httpS when you are doing it writable

Awesome, thanks. I wouldn't have known where to put the info in a way that's most useful.

i have a clever question: do you think it would be possible to strat a new thread, when you start a new topic? this is how i do it: if i want to comment on something somebody has said on the list i use the "reply" (and relatives: usually "reply list") button in my mail-client. if i have a new question, i click on "new" and add "pd-list@iem.at" as the address (when i'm lazy, i navigate to a pd-list mail, and right-click on the mail-address and select "compose mail to".
you can learn why this makes sense in "pd-list's terms of agreement" at: http://puredata.info/community/lists/Netiquette

Hey IOhannes,
I am guessing you wrote about starting a new thread because this
thread got bunched in with another in your mailer. I never reply,
then change the subject unless its a reply, I've noticed on a number
of occasions that my threads will get bunched in with others. Also,
my mailer did not bunch this one in with any other threads.
So I think the culprit is bugs in the threading of your mailer.

thanks for pointing this possibility out, and if so i'm indeed deeply ashamed.
nevertheless, i find this in the headers of philippe's email: in-reply-to: 1285270921.27764.1396575561@webmail.messagingengine.com
clearly referencing your email about "svn co...documentation" (at least my mta shows this message-id for your email)
(the problem is with philippe's email on "blank lines with textfile/msgfile" which was in reply to your mail about svn documentation)

I've made that mistake before. You got Icedove, and I've got Sylpheed and think they have a similar sloppy way of bunching by subject line.

sorry, but I believe that my mail was only for the pd-list, and not

It's certainy an error of me
how to create in a textfile blank line between 2 lines with
[msgfile] or [textfile]by adding an empty line with [add( (no arguments)
My problem was that when I read a .srt with [msgfill], all blank line
was cuted, and after when I rewrite the text, I did not manage to
insert blank lines
But I have choosen an other way to realize a random mix of video and
subtitle in VLC, with [system] and applescript.
I document the atch and I share.
best regards

You might try the [srtfile] object that Maira Sala, IOhannes, and me
worked on, its not totally done, but should work to some degree:

Hi
For applescript command
for exemple to change .srt used by VLC [it was my problem : to create
an automat for a random_mix of .srt in VLC]
[open document file "XXXXXX.srt" of folder [set the name of file "XXXXXX.srt" to "XXXXXX1.srt"( "Desktop" of folder "philippsnard" of folder "Users" I of startup disk using application file "TextEdit.app" of I folder "Applications" of startup disk] I I I I I I I I I I__________________________________________________I [list] I [l2s] I [osascript -e 'tell application "Finder" to $1' &( I [system]
I finish the patch, and I share in the list.
