Hi
I'm very new to pd and can't work out how to compile an external, I'm using windows 98. It would be great if someone could write some step by step instructions of how to do this , I don't understand the text file in the documentation about it where its says to use nmake pd_nt, where do I write this, I've tryed doing it in the command line and it justs says that there is no such file.
Could some body please help me, sorry for being so ignorant
thanks
Matthew
do you have micosoft visual studio 6 installed? if you do, the next guess is that its probably a path issue. (as in, your path has to point to the directory in the installation folder for VC6 that has the nmake.exe file.)

it was a stupid mistake i was making, but now the external works
perfectly like it should. there are some issues in expanding the pd patch, because right now there is only one source sound.
i tried running two copies of the patch in the SAME patch (two
sets of controls with two externals), but it brought the CPU load up to about 40%. in pd, how could i design it so that i could add a new mono sound, and then position that sound where i want it and be able to switch between multiple sounds and position one of them at a time?
on a side note, running the same algorithm in jack (alsa API)
takes about 0.9 % CPU load... as opposed to pd at about 40 %
