Hi List,
When using the Pd.app, I've noticed that it's hard to reliably change Pd's preferences - such as the binaries to load on startup and the path.
Is there a text file containing preferences that is more reliable that changing it in Pd's menu? In what ways is it possible to define Pd's preferences within the precompiled OSX .app??
TIA

you should use pdrc .. it's an invisible file, so you have to use 'find' in the menubar to open it.
if it's not there, maybe you have to get it from sourceforge or something

Should it (.pdrc) live in the $HOME directory?

ah, also in finder on osx you could use (at a shell of your choice (bash, tcsh))
[localhost:~] defaults write com.apple.Finder AppleShowAllFiles ON
then quit finder (or hit relaunch) -- all hidden files will be visible.

thanks!

as discussed earlier the .pdrc is depreciated. read here: http://puredata.org/docs/faq/FrontPage#WhatIsThePdrc

Right, .pdrc is probably not a good long-term solution.
There were some bugs in settings saving in Pd 0.38... try the 0.39 test version and see if you get any better satisfaction...

Hi Miller,
I just got your distribution of version 0.39 and that did the trick; preferences are now saving as expected.

I've been curious, since I'm new to OSX, as to how these nice little *.app files are created. They are searchable as directories through the shell, but are nice little one file packages when viewed in the finder. How are these constructed?
