Howdy all,
I tried using pduino today, and when I specify the arduino board as a device for the comport object (devicename /dev/cu.usbserial-#####), I lose complete control of my keyboard and trackpad (on a Macbook).
I can use the power button on the computer to start a shutdown, and when Pd's closed, I regain control. Ideas?
D!
Yeah, I saw this once or twice before. But I wasn't quite sure what
it was. One thing that I've seen people do is short out the power.
If you short out the power on the Arduino, or put too much of a load
on it, then the USB bus will automatically kill the power to the
whole USB bus, including your mouse and keyboard, if that's USB.
My guess is that unplugging the Arduino should fix the problem. What
exactly happens for you? Does the mouse freak out and jump around
the screen? I saw that once or twice, that's probably a bug in the
driver since I can't see how Pd could control the mouse pointer (yet).

Hi HC,
I've had the problem of the USB bus being killed because to much power was drawn, but it was because I plugged a pot into the wrong ports.
This time, the kbd and mouse just freeze, no other indications of anything else.
So if unplugging the arduino will get my mouse and kbd back, do you have any suggestions of how I could actually use pduino if I can't leave it plugged in?

If the keyboard and mouse freeze, that's most likely because of some
over-current condition in your wiring. That then causes the USB bus
to power off. No software will help with that. Usually, its caused
by a short circuit.
