okay....i've gobe through the help files for osc...i understand how the various objects work...however (and this might be too obvious to think of for veterans of pd) i have no idea what the syntax of the messages should be: how do i tell a particular oscillator what to do: how do i identify the oscillator? thanks again

Are you talking about OSC, Open Sound Control, or osc~ here? ciao
check out the objects route, OSCroute, send, receive ...
how they re exactly distinguished depends on you, like
|/oscil/1 100 < |/oscil/2 666 < | / | / | / |OSCroute /oscil| | |OSCroute /1 /2| = = = | | osc~ osc~
in a simple case.
