hello,
I try to stream audio (wav) from a rasperry pi with Gstreamer and catch it in puredata with [udpreceive~]
I am wondering if this is possible ?
To stream I use the following command : *gst-launch-1.0 -v alsasrc device=hw:1,0 ! udpsink host=192.168.2.102 port=5001*
when I send the message [info( to [udpreceive~] I can see there is see something coming from the pi but I don't succeed to get any sound...
in the pd-window I got the following error message: *udpreceive~: bad header tag (1)*
I guess itś related to the blocksize argument and I miss some arguments in gstreamer to communicate ?
thanks you for your help

Not really. [udpreceive~] is meant to receive from [udpsend~]. They send packets of audio samples along with the some parameters and a frame count. Unless your sender formats the data the same way, it just won't work. The thing to do would be send using a [udpsend~] in the Pi, or else find out what gstreamer is sending and write an external to decode that inside of Pd ;)

or use "pdgst" [1] to work with gstreamer from within Pd. or use a gstreamer pipeline running in a separate process (e.g. using gst-launch) and pipe the audio-data into Pd using jack.

hello,
thanks for your answers and suggestions
I think to use netjack to stream the audio into Pd but I never tested it .. did someone have some experience with it ?
and yes indeed there is also pdgst, but still I never succeed to compile it ... time to try again !

we have been successfully using jacktrip [1].
and yes indeed there is also pdgst, but still I never succeed to compile it ... time to try again !
the git version has fixed some problems with modern linkers (like the ones in ubuntu)

oh thanks !
JackTrip looks like what I was looking for.

Just in case you're adventurous - I'm currently using a new streamer, http://code.google.com/p/streaming-audio/, by Michelle Daniels, which is turning out to be simpler and more robust than Jacktrip. You have to install QT4 to compile it, but once you've done that it's _very_ easy to get running.

Can it send high quality tif scans of a compact disc?
Because if you could receive that tiff in less time than it takes to play the album it would be better than real time.

Hi!
I'm running into a "new hardware" problem. My old system won't boot up anymore with the new mainboard (amd fm2 chipset) but I want to stay backward compatible with the old hardware (am3 chipset).
Does anybody know how long Pd-extended 0.42.5 was supported (i.e. to which Ubuntu version) and where I can download that Pd-extended version (Ubuntu i386 32 bit).
A kernel update to one of the latest kernels like "raring" didn't work.
Any help is appreciated!
Thanks a lot! Ingo
Let's put it in another way:
is anybody running Pd-extended 0.42.5 on ubuntu 12.04 "precise"?
Thanks Ingo
