hi,
actually i miss the good old
http://pure-data.sourceforge.net/developer.php
website because it allowed for easy cut&paste of the long long cvs
commands. i see the page is still online but there is no link to it
anymore (instead two links on the left side point to the same location).
my offer: as soon as i find time i could simply add the link again
(and make some minor changes to the menu on the left so that links
that go to another site are separated from links that make the reader
stay at sf.net).
how/where do i access the website to add a link to this old checkout- cut&paste-source?

Hi,
The idea is to change the "htdocs" module which is on CVS. This also contains an "upload" script that actually updates the sourceforge pages. Seems that hans did some updates on the webpage directly without updating the CVS, so what you should do first is getting these updates into CVS and then make your changes. I second your ideas about separating the SF web internal links from the others, seems to make sense and it is less confusing, so go ahead, and check with hans.

The page is question is now here:

There are so many random bits of information strewn across so many
different sites. Ideally, we would one place, puredata.org, were you
could get as much of that info as possible. Personally, I think
pure-data.sf.net should just point to puredata.org and all that info
should be folded in. IIRC, we agreed on this path on the pdweb list
way back when, but no one ever got around to doing the grunt work.

I think that having the information about how to use the CVS on the CVS site made things clear. I understand that we are in a transitional state now, but the crosslinking is not very elegant, so the solution that Martin proposes with a separate section for cross links seems to be logical.

Yeah, the cross-linking is probably not the best thing... anyone
opposed to a complete merge of pure-data.sf.net into puredata.org,
included a redirection?

No, my only concern is that the puredata.org site should get more consistent. E.g the two menus developers/documentation and documentation/developers are a bit confusing.
Developers should have all the information they need at hand in the developers submenu directly.

Can't argue against consistency. And those menus should point to the
same thing. As long as there is one clearly defined method of
accessing something (docs/developer), I think shortcuts are ok
(dev/docs).
Developers should have all the information they need at hand in the developers submenu directly.
The developers section was never really flushed out, actually much of
the site was never really flushed out. Personally I find Plone too
heavyweight for what we need to do. I think a Wiki would work much
better for most of the site.
The idea behind the developers section is for things pertaining to
development, like the bug, patches, and feature request trackers; or
organizational info if we ever manage to agree on how to organize ;).
All documentation should be in the documentation section.
