AFAIK, there is no package libcv1 anymore in 10.04. I guess it was replaced by libcv4.

I just have compiled gridflow from sources without openCV and get in Pd console : GridFlow 9.9, Copyright (c) 2001-2010 Mathieu Bouchard GridFlow was compiled on May 14 2010, 17:26:09 GF: setting stack size to -1

well, GEM and others are included as well, why isn't gridflow? it would reduce the installation barrier from two steps to one step. that's _half_ the work ;) for some students this can be the difference from success to frustration (for a minority i am glad to admit, but still).

no, actually not at all - it is very easy and on OS X putting it in /Library/Pd/ is great, because then it runs in every version installed on the system which knows [import] (so not the GUI rewrite versions from the autobuild afaik, but the standard Pd-etended installation).
and (except the camera i didn't have time to dig into that) everything works - great stuff matthieu, thank you.

Because I don't want to work on this. Ask Hans if you really need to. But at this point I think it is easier to get users to install the correct GridFlow, than getting users to first remove (or disable) an old GridFlow from Pd-extended so that they can install a newer version than what would be available in a stable Pd-extended. I mean that development of GridFlow is going a bit fast at this point, and tends to be driven by requests of users that wouldn't want to wait until next year... more like next month or next week.
well, GEM and others are included as well, why isn't gridflow?
who wants to be doing that job ?
it would reduce the installation barrier from two steps to one step. that's _half_ the work ;)
and compared to how it used to be for OSX users, that's plain nothing at all. Furthermore, if wanting to have a newer version of GridFlow, it's more steps.

Well, actually, I don't use [import]... I already tell all the users to instead write it in the « Startup... » dialogue box. I suppose that in the README that sentence could now be reversed, to suggest Startup first, "or else" use [import].

I don't understand this argument, there is almost everyday a new pd-extended, that comes up from autobuilds why gridflow changes wouldn't appear on new releases, since the source are taken from svn?

surprinsingly, i can understand and agree (?) with MB for not putting some packages like OpenCV for PD in pd-extended, but not because they are not up-to-date with the SVN, but because extended doesn't use autoconf and use 'hand-made' makefile which get us into lots of problems all the time.

Those releases aren't "stable".
I have nothing against telling people to install a certain Pd-extended autobuild as long as basic stuff like GEM is not broken for over a month at a time. (undefined symbol...)
But that's theoretical, unless you want to take care of those auto-builds of GridFlow.

They've gotten gridflow to be a super easy install, just unzip and
drop in the right place, so I don't see a strong reason to get it
included in Pd-extended just yet, especially when its changing. Pd-
extended isn't released all that often. But with 0.42.5, you should
be able to override the built-in libraries by installing a new copy in
the user-installed folder.

Great! I like the attempt at a patch as a property dialog with the [#many] object.
Question: inside the [#many] abstraction, have you thought about putting the grid of iemguis inside their own gop subpatch? That way you could just send a "clear" message to that subpatch after the "Apply" or "Ok" button is pressed, then bang the new args. (Though you'd have to use a [donecanvasdialog( in there to reset the subpatch's gop properties.)

--------------------> http://gridflow.ca/ <---------------------
version 9.10 (2010.08.04):
- added examples qbert.pd, remap_video.pd
- removed example play_video.pd
- [#lop_space]: faster; added method "reverse"; added
default args
- fix division by zero in [# C./] and [# C./conj]
- added [# C.inv*] [# /exp]
- [#pack]: support multi-element list in left inlet
- [#join]: no more "empty grids" (default value is 0)
- better error messages for not enough args, too many
args, wrong args, etc.
- [print]: make more like the builtin [print] it
overrides
- added index of General Topics, in GridFlow Index
- incompatible change in [doc_exist] (which was for
internal use only anyway)
- incompatible change : removed numtype abbreviations that
no-one ever used, that is : u8 i16 i32 i64 f32 f64 (kept the shorter ones : b s i l f d)
- incompatible change :
renamed [gf.not_open] to [gf/not_open]; [gf.oneshot] to [gf/oneshot]; etc.
- [#many]: add methods : bgcolor, spacing
- incompatible change in [#many]: removed $4 and $5
arguments for specifying the size of the cells (now it is autodetected)
- added [#many-prop] (properties dialogue for [#many])
- updated GEM support to prevent crashes due to
imageStruct 93 being different from imageStruct 92 (or even from recent versions of imageStruct 93).
- added classes [attr] [doc_section] [gf/propertybang]
[setargs] [gf/object_bbox]
- added classes [#to_pdp] [#from_pdp]
(but unlike for GEM, gridflow as a whole doesn't require PDP)
- [args]: fix bang bug (bang was ignored since loadbang
support was added)
- added [display] and [#see] to the Put menu
- added more missing documentation
- [#to~]: added multichannel support
- [#to~]: $1 (number of channels) now defaults to 1
- [#print]: right-justify floats at 10 chars per number
column
- [#to_float],[#to_symbol],[#to_list] aliased to
[#to_f],[#to_s],[#to_l]
- [#io.quicktimeapple]: report total number of frames
correctly
- [#draw_polygon]: fixed some inaccuracies in rendering
- [#draw_polygon]: fixed bug in check of number of
dimensions of color grid
- [doc_accolade]: add method 'color'

It's not just an attempt, it's the future. (but for Cancel/Apply/Ok, it requires -lib ggee from pd-extended)
Question: inside the [#many] abstraction, have you thought about putting the grid of iemguis inside their own gop subpatch?
I was going to do it for 9.10 but there was too much new stuff already. I want it for 9.11, together with the ability to save the spacing settings disk.
That way you could just send a "clear" message to that subpatch after the "Apply" or "Ok" button is pressed, then bang the new args.
I'd also want to be able to preserve the boxes as they are at that moment, if I don't modify those settings...
(Though you'd have to use a [donecanvasdialog( in there to reset the subpatch's gop properties.)
Currently I don't even use "donecanvasdialog" as in canvas-properties, I use "coords" as in the "#X coords" lines of the file format. They're roughly equivalent, but if I hit a redraw problem with "coords", I will have to switch to "donecanvasdialog", or whatever else. I already use it when setting the spacing, because it changes the size of the GOP.

errata : I mean I already have to use either "coords" or "donecanvasdialog", and so far, the one I use is "coords".

now doesn't require -lib ggee, as it uses the new [gf/tk_button] in 9.11.

I mean that if I used options like 'to $1 $2 color $3' then it might be annoying to reset them by recreating everything.
