Ok, I'm a brave (or stupid) soul: I've been trying to run Pd on my Powerbook G3 on YellowDog Linux. So far, I've recompiled PD and it runs. The sound is far from satisfactory, and I am writing on the off chance that someone on the list has experience with this or a similar combination. If you have any tips, however small, my ears are open. Specifically, sound i/o is the biggest problem. I am using the -frags 4 option, but distortion still takes place. Any help/advice/admonition will help. Thanks in advance!

Zowee, that's the first I've heard of anyone getting sound out of Pd on a Mac! Not knowing the slightest thing about it, but haveing spent many hours listening to misbehaving audio I/O systems, I would look in the following places:
Run with "-noadc" to start with.
Compare Pd's clock to real time. If it's off by 100%, the driver has
the wrong number of channels or the wrong sample size. If off by a varying amount proceed to #2:
huge values and see if the behavior changes.
it's either the format of the audio samples or else overflow in the output.

Actually, I've cried for help on a mac about a year ago... Guenter talked big endian little endian differences but I had no idea what he was talking about.
