hello
would anybody know what the best way to get mono 8 bit 8000khz ccitt u-law encoded wav files into pd? i've been using sfread~ and they're coming out a little funny...
the files come from a vxml application that only encodes things this way.
just in case you were wondering why anyone would want such files in pd.
thanks

err, by converting them to 16bit 8000hz pcm files (the closest uncompressed approximation to ulaw).
if you are on linux, use sox.. if you are on windows, any decent wave editor should do it. surely cooledit is still around?
