the IT dept. asked me which ports shall be open in the free WLAN they are going to install for the convention. my lists so far: http, https, ssh, pop-ssl, imap-ssl, smtp/tls, smtp-ssl, netpd (3025)

Pd: 5400 (tcp/ip) if there is some streaming to happen, i would open up 8000 & 8080 (tcp/ip)
and some UDP-ports might come in handy as well, e.g. openvpn (udp/1194).
and make sure that hosts can communicate with each other on some UDP ports. e.g. for workshops and demos it is nice if users can connect to each other out-of-the-box, using [netsend 1] and the like; i guess often used ports here include 7000, 8000, 9000, 6666; i only mention that, because at LAC2011 some talks had to skip demo-ing their software, as communication between hosts in the same wlan was prohibited by IT dept.
