Its been a few months since I wonder what would be the algorithm to write an signal's "pitch changer" in Pd. I searched the archives, but I cant find any message about an octaver or a pitch changer. This can be done easily with requencies, but what about signals ? Would it be possible simply using expr~ ? Maybe I need to review my maths...

i am still yet to hear a good way to change pitch in realtime.
if you use one of these delayline pitch shifters (like in the .doc) , it's going to end up sounding like a stick being run across a wire fence.
and if you use some sort of pitch vocoder (fourier transformation), it sounds a lot more soft and human, but still has that 'wrapped in thick plastic' effect

Does the "phased locking vocoder" example in "doc/4.fft.examples" also sound like plastic to you? I like it...

the fftw3 support is in devel since more than one year ... more than 2 times faster than the mayer fft used by miller ...

The Octave Divider in the examples seems to be a frequency shifter (like the Bode) but it would be fun to build a Octaviator/Octaver like the guitar/bass pedal fx, although it qualifys as the least natural sounding pitching device. Its a frequency divider and the results are naturally rectangular waveforms which sounds in most cases terrible but sometimes interesting timbres show up.
