i have something i'd like to add to pdpedia, but it seems the datapool is still not functional.
the current version says 'this is how pdpedia MIGHT look' ...so when will it actually be ready to use?
i think that rather than arguing about silly stuff like 'classes vs objects' it would be better just for everyone to add as much info as they can. i have something i'd like to put up there, but without the datapool being activatied, and the real site initiated, it's not possible.

true, but using consistent expressions in a documentation is fundamental. i do not consider it silly at all.

i prepared a document which included ascii style patch representations
(eg..
[t f f] | / | [set $1-array] | / [tabread 0-array] )
but the wiki format doesn't like the multiple spaces you need for this, so i made .png files from screenshots, and tried to upload them, but i get error messages telling me to come back later and try again.
you can do that by using tags around your ascii style <code><pre>
[t f f] | / | [set $1-array] | / [tabread 0-array]
</pre></code>

bugger, forgot to reply to list again. here's my reply:
ok. i know pdpedia only a rough draft at the moment, which is why i felt more comfortable messing round and editing stuff.
i have saved my input as .txt files and will add it to the real pdpedia when you get it up and running.
i also added a section for 'links' which of course is essential
another section for 'patches' of course will also be needed.
cheers marius.
here you can see our test page: http://pdpedia.at.or.at/test/index.php/Main_Page here are suggestions for standardized sections: http://pdpedia.at.or.at/test/index.php/class1 no real templates yet. don't be scared. some information will only be visible in edit mode... and as I said, everything is still under construction. marius.

yeah i know. i already had a go at editing your test page ;)
as far as i see. you're just setting it up as an explanation of objects (or classes, or whatever they're called now.)
but pd is more about how you string objects together, than the actual objects themselves.
anyway. the community will get it altogether once the real wiki fun starts,

You're right. but still, the howtos and tutorials are based on some basic information about objects.
if you want to do something right now, then please help me with getting lists of objects and short description. I posted a list of the missing libraries some days ago. I basically need
object --- this object does that and that. object2 --- this object does something completely different.
My intention is, to get all the objects up, so that people immediately can start working with the wiki (and will use the wiki as their primary reference and search engine). the short description is the most important thing. every object will have a short description and library info, the rest is then up to community.
there will be some standardized labels like: this object is related to these other objects ... this object belongs to these groups ... this object appears in these tutorials ... this object was used in the following artwork...
marius.

I have my own personal 0.INTRO.TXT file, which has many many objects. For
sure not all, but it's not that bad. I might compare it with the last
version of pd-ext soon, if I have the time/mood for it. This list is also
in my pd-page and I posted here about it, but I guess that no one can
really know everything that's happening on the list.

In case this wasn't clear before, please go ahead and hack away at
the pdpedia.at.or.at/test site. that will remain there for a while
while we set this stuff up.
Then, once we get the scripted data dump working, that will dump into
another new site (currently wiki.puredata.info, but now i am thinking
pdpedia.puredata.info would be a better name). So you could move
content from pdpedia.at.or.at once the final pdpedia site is setup.
Plus it would be great if you did start dumping content into the test
site because then we can get a better idea of how we should organize
it. I am aiming to have the new site up in a week.

practice, it can change entire economies. - Amy Smith
it seems that the media pool (database) still hasn't been set up. once that works, i can start doing some pages.
Ok, I fixed the mediapool. It works on "test" now, and I uploaded one
image.
http://pdpedia.at.or.at/mediapool/index.php/Main_Page
The "Upload File" link on the left nav of every wiki should use the
mediapool now.

If nature has made any one thing less susceptible than all others of
exclusive property, it is the action of the thinking power called an
idea, which an individual may exclusively possess as long as he keeps
it to himself; but the moment it is divulged, it forces itself into
the possession of everyone, and the receiver cannot dispossess
himself of it. - Thomas Jefferson
hey, I spend most of my free time working on that (and on a template for pddp...)! there will be another chat meeting on tuesday and after that we will start creating the wiki pages. besides the object/class discussion, there is also discussion about layout and which standardized entries to force, and how. since it is a big project, and if you do it wrong, there is a chance of doing work twice (which we want to prevent), I would say better discuss a week more and start later. marius.
