hi all,
the problem of the maudio quattro with linux has been discussed on this list... today i found a solution for 4 inputs and 2 outputs...
if the maudio is your /dev/dsp1, create a symlink from /dev/adsp1 to /dev/dsp2.
start pd with pd -oss -audiodev 2,3
you'll be able to access all 4 input channels and the second 2 output channels ... on the first 2 output channels, you will have some awesome noise...
take care...

Rightclick in a patch background, select Help. It does not show externals.

press right mouse button on the white background of a canvas/patch window and select help...

Any error messages in the console?
Actually, all this does is show the file doc/5.reference/0.INTRO.txt in Pd. You can look at this with a text editor, too, of course.
p.s. also any place to find help files (eg. [mp3...~] objects?)
Help files are included in most collections of externals. Example patches are e.g. on pure-data.org.
Frank Barknecht _ ______footils.org__
run pd with command
"pd -verbose"
and click RMB on patch/canvas background -> select "help" and see what error message(s) you get in the console

unfortunatelly not

There should be a file called: 0.INTRO.txt
in $path_to/pd/doc/5.reference
If it is not there, it is possible that your installer [if you used one] or you [if you compiled it and put it there yourself] didn't copy that file to the right location. You should locate that file and make sure it is in the right place.
Worst-case scenerio would be that you have to download the PD source and extract that file from the docs there.
Most of your external libraries [zexy, iemlib, gem for sure] should have come with a similar text file, so to have a *complete* list of objects at the click of a mouse, copy all the other texts into this one file.
best, d.
the text file you get opened when you press RMB on background and select help, lives in 'pd/doc/5.reference/0.INDEX.txt'
pd doesn't have any mp3 objects build-in...
what pd-version and externals do you have ?
cheers -andre
