hallo together,
i am trying to build a simple sample/loop player in pd. i am using [read] [soundfiler][tabread] and so on. everything works fine, only the samples are cutted when i play them. i think the reason is that the wav file does not fit into the array. is there a way to set the array size automatically? for example with the help of [soundfile_info]?
or maybe someone has a link to a patch with a good sample player, with options to loop, pitch and play on bang (for my sequencer patch).
thanks
/robert

[openpanel] | "read -resize $1 my-table" | [soundfiler] | new length of table

hey claude, you helped me a lot. the only thing i realize now, is that pd slows down when the sample size is to great. is there an alternative to play long samples?
thanks a lot. /robert
moin robert,
[readsf~] and [readanysf~] will both read directly from the filesystem. [readanysf~] is more flexible, but was acting a bit flaky last time I had to compile it (sorry, can't be more specific at the moment; too many ecstatic football fans in my neighborhood) ;-)

To play long soundfile, you have [readsf~] (from hard drive).
But there is also [tabread~~] and [tabread4~~] (if i'm right) from
zexy, but i never use this 2 objects.

[readsf~] works great.i have no performance problems with this object. is it possible to pitch the playing of the file with [readsf~] or do i have to use arrays/tables for this?
thanks for your help
