Hi list - hi Patrick, pix, aym3ric (and thanks for your considerations..!) after quite some tests I think I can conclude that Patrick is right. Portaudio does not work with uneven streams. 2 channels in, 2 channels out works fine with PD and emi 2/6 (or A26 as they call it now) under Win XP. (any ideas of how to change/replace portaudio...?). Whereas with Max (for windows) its possible to adress all 6 outputs. So the question is whether someone has an idea of how to get a PD audio stream into Max (realtime) - so that I can do the sound job in PD and use MAX as an output device. Cheers Achim
how about using the pdVST. http://crca.ucsd.edu/~jsarlo/pdvst/ in a host like bidule, audiomulch, maxmsp, etc...

while i think that these are great suggestions and forgive me if i am being stubborn the goal was/is for some at one time to have 2 inputs into pd and 6 out of pd -- plain and simple
no pipings into other programs, no pdvst, no soundflower, no jack
just 2 in 6 out in one program. portaudio cannot do that or wont? i am not a programmer developer to decide it's just extremely frustrating to see virtually hundreds of wicked cool externals, functions, abstractions what have you but no one can seem to get this silly soundcard to work properly

Just to make sure: You did try to fool pd with
$ pd -outchannels 6 -inchannels 6
didn't you?
Would installing Linux be an option?

i had a quick look and atleast found one message online about someone having troubles with emi using portaudio (but on osx). and no messages about this being resolved. so, i think that you should take this problem up with the portaudio developers. and then, once they have fixed it, hassle the pd developers to integrate the new version of portaudio.

Hi all,
Just installed linux on my playstation2, was wondering if anyone has managed to port PD to this platform yet.. (I guess tcl and the audio interface lib would be the sticking points)
I read:

Cool. On my TODO list as well, but I need to get a harddisk and the kit first...

You might try (I will) to install Debian for PS2: http://blackrhino.xrhino.com/main.php?page=home
It includes tcl/tk and gcc so you can just build Pd yourself.

Hi tom,
Can I just add to that and ask if anyone has had any success with pd on a chipped x-box? and in particular gem and pdp? could save me shelling out on a mega graphics laptop.
