I have observed crashes when changes are made to object orientation inbetween renderings. I.E. you start the window then stop and start again. The way I work around this is by stoping all object change behavoirs before stoping the render, and usually I restart PD if I stop rendering. The crashes usually aren't a big deal, unless I am using a graphics accelleration card inwhich case the crash means that I have to reinstall the card- some what of a hassle- so I have been back with the old scan convert, lines and all, for Video outputting. One thing that would be nice would be if it were possible to right a command line that would around the pd windows around the desktop in the way that I want, this would reduce time in restarting pd. I have not tryed osx or the quicktime object, so I can't really comment on that, but good luck
