I read:
- is there a way to switch off dsp computing in a subpatcher only, and how?
(i think i should know that)
|switch~ |
- i remember a discussion thread about max-like poly (or even better -
poly~) objects a while ago... has there been any external code written in an attempt to realize that?
AFAIK there are pixes attempts to do it dyamically (i.e. using internal messages, maybe there was an external involved ... let pix answer that one) anyway -> http://pix.test.at/pd/nqpoly/index.html
- is it guaranteed (or at least intended - and under which circumstances)
that - contrary to Max/MSP - opening a new patcher and adding objects to the signal tree doesn't result in an overall crackle? At least in my experiments i could open fairly complex and cpu-intense patches in PD without audio interruption.
hmmm good one, sometimes there's trouble sometimes there is none ...
- i think to recall vaguely that there has been a project featuring a
tcl/tk-less pd patcher system (i think with GTK). If this is true, does that still reside somewhere?
that was pdgui by karl macmillan: http://gigue.peabody.jhu.edu/~karlmac/download/pd/

Hi all I would like to know if iemlib works with the latest pd. I use pd 0.36 devel from cvs. I don't know if using the devel branch is the best think to do but I need the jack support.
At the iemlib download page there is no mention of iemlib for pd 0.36. I actually tried to install iemlib following the instructions and my pd instalation was unusable afterwards. Any ideas?

hi Anton. It's easier to help if you report errors messages or the like. What do you mean with "unusable"?

Hi, thanks for replying I installed iemlib again following the instructions in the install file . When I try to open a new file I get the following message:
wrong # args: should be "pdtk_canvas_new name width height geometry"
and it doesn't open at all. Opening an existing patch produces the same result although I can hear sound. I do not get any other errors on start up

Then devel_0_36 is an okay option, IMO.

Make sure, that you don't install iemgui, i.e. the sliders and toggles in IEMLIB. They are obsolete and not compatible with newer Pd. Appropriate versions are already included. Other than that, iemlib works just fine and is still one of my favourite external collections, after all those years.
Only mp3play~ seems to have trouble with some newer mp3's. Anyone has an idea what might be the reason or how to fix it?
