Hello, I've just installed Pd-extended 0.42.5 from the Ubuntu Lucid repo at http://apt.puredata.info/releases, and I've successfully built gridflow 9.11. However I have a couple of problems: gridflow objects that bridge with gem & pdp like #to_pix or #to_pdp do not work. Maybe because there are no gem or pdp includes in the pd-extended package? The second problem is related to the missing support for libv4l2 in the lucid package... In fact I have to use LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/libv4l/v4l1compat.so pdextended to make my webcam work with pd-extended... Could you provide a build with v4l2 support?

Is V4L2 problem with Gem or PDP or both? Are you using Ubuntu/Lucid
i386/32bit or amd64/64bit? libv4l-dev is installed on the Ubuntu/
lucid i386 32-bit but not on the ubuntu-lucid-amd64 machine. (András,
could you apt-get install libv4l-dev on your machine?)

Sorry, I forgot to specify that I'm on KXStudio, based on Ubuntu Lucid 64bit. The problem is with both GEM and PDP/pidip.

Ok, looks like the problem was that libv4l-dev was not installed on
the ubuntu-lucid-amd64 build machine. I'll post a new build once its
done.

I've triggered the build but pdx failed (rsync error: received SIGINT, SIGTERM, or SIGHUP... dunno why) so i'm running it again...

GEM works now with v4l2 after installing libavifile-0.7 (seems to be a new dependency in this build...)
pdp_v4l2 instead give me the error "pdp_v4l2: unsupported color model: 1195724874" (my cam is a Hercules Webcam Classic, using the ov519 gspca driver, and the only output for the video stream is jpeg); it works using pdp_v4l with v4l1compat.so preloaded...
gridflow camera capture only works with v4l1compat.so preloaded (as expected)
However gridflow's objects that bridges to GEM & pdp still do not work, even if gridflow is the last external loaded by PD...
I hope that my report could be useful to you ;)

You built GridFlow 9.11 without libv4l support. You need to redo
./configure && make
after you have installed libv4l-dev.
I will need error messages that appear when loading GridFlow, if any. For example, something about symbol not found, file not found, or whatever else.

Mathieu, I have libv4l-dev installed, and I have built gridflow with v4l support, so there is no need to rebuild it. As you said before:
BTW, did you get libv4l1 support in your GF build ? (there's currently no v4l2 API support at this point in GF though... it only understands v4l2 through the v4l1 interface and only if you have libv4l1 support enabled)
So I just have to ld_preload v4l1compat.so when i run pdextended to let gridflow see my v4l2 cam as a v4l1 device, no problem with this. The real problem is interfacing gridflow with GEM or pdp, since the objects like #to_pix or #to_pdp do not work...

In the startup list, "gridflow" needs to be listed after "gem" and after "pdp" so that those components work. Also make sure that your build of GF does include GEM support. PDP support is a mandatory component in the build, and starting with 9.12, GEM support also is. But they become mandatory at build time for two reasons : they become optional at run time, and they include their own copies of the headers (of GEM, PDP, and now, the headers of Pd too). This means that you can build a full GF build without even having Pd installed at all, and the build will still be able to run with Pd, GEM and PDP.
