Hi all (once again) : I'm having a very basic problem getting rradical to function.
I followed the _installation_ instructions setting up my paths. But when I open an example or tutorial (ex: pd/rradical/memento/tutorial/3-tut.pd) I get:
OSCprepend $1 ... couldn't create originator.pd 11 0 61 1 (gatom->text) connection failed originator.pd 33 0 61 0 (receive->text) connection failed originator.pd 61 0 59 0 (text->outlet) connection failed originator.pd 81 0 61 0 (message->text) connection failed
In other words it can't find _originator.pd_ even though the directory is in my path. .pdrc = -mididev 1 -path /usr/lib/pd/externs:/usr/lib/pd/extra:/usr/lib/pd/gridflow:/usr/lib/pd/extra/pmpd:/usr/lib/pd/rradical/memento -lib Gem:pdp:pidip:gridflow:iemlib1:iemlib2:iem_t3_lib etc...
It seems like a problem with my paths (when I check File>Paths... they are all listed). Is this a system problem or a rradical problem? Btw, I'm using RH9, pd 0.37-1 from Planet CCRMA...
Any help with this seemingly stupid problem would be greatly appriciated since I'm about to start a big project and would like to integrate rradical. Thanks :brad
I also have this problem! All of the paths in rradical are messed up. What paths do I need to add in my batch file? Frank, have you made an installation tutorial?

I searched in the archives some more and followed these indications>>
-path /rradical/memento:/rradical/control:/rradical/tpl:/rradical/instruments: /rradical/effects
from the post RRADical in CVS. http://iem.at/mailinglists/pd-list/2004-04/019480.html
I added this into my paths and it seemed to work for me... I can open all the tutorials, and some of Chun Lee's patches http://www.sonicvariable.com/software.html that use rradical (without too many errors, anyway). The rradical project seems great, but I think the instructions need to be clearer for it to have an effect on how we use pd. Anyway, now I have to get back to work and figure out how to integrate it with my video and pdpm patches.

Yes, sorry about this. I am thinking, if it might be better to just move all rradical patches (except Memento) into a single directory? This would make it easier to install this stuff, but OTOH it will make it more difficult to get an overview about what of the rradicals are effects, which are instruments or which are intended as control objects. It would be easier if Pd would allow to specify something like: "-path /path/to/rrad/*"

I think that the RRADical objects should go directly into "../extra",
then there won't be all of these path problems. Then for the overview,
an all_about_rradical.pd patch could have everything outlined. Then in
every RRADical help file, there would be a link to
all_about_rradical.pd. This is the approach that the PDDP stuff uses
and is what I did with my [hid] project. I think it works really well.

No, it cannot find OSCprepend.pd. Sorry, this is an error on my side: I intended to move OSCprepend.pd from "rradical/control" to "rradical/memento" for some time, but always forgot. :(
I changed this on CVS now, but you could just move over OSCprepend.pd from the "control" dir for now or add this to your Pd-path as well.
However depending on which "_installation_ instructions" you followed, then "rradical/control" should be in your path already.
