this might be OT, but I know lots of ppl on the list are using this card, so I just wanted to comment what a pleasure it was to install.
having read the notorious calamities associated with this card, i sat myself down with an intimate cup of tea, breathed 23 deep breaths, and meditated for 3 hours to prepare for the upcoming frustration.
strangely enough, it was as easy as poping the card in, downloading the new alsa drivers, compiling them, configuring modules.conf and asoundrc according to dieb's howto http://pd.klingt.org/files/hdsp-howto.html et viola! starting pd with 'pd -alsadev hdsp -blocksize 1024' worked perfectly.
setup
Micron Transport ZX
gentoo linux (rsynced in february)
alsa 0.9.2
kernel 2.4.20
pd from cvs
things I didnt have to do:
i did not have to change /etc/pcmcia/config.opts with: include port 0x100-0x4ff, port 0xc00-0xcff
i did not have to downgrade the firmware on the card even though I bought it 2 weeks ago.
i did not have to reserve extra memory at bootup
i did not have to
now, I'll have to meditate some more to prepare to learn what amixer is really doing.
cheers! and thanks to those for the howtos - august.
