Hi,
I'm trying to get a live DV input running in PDP, which is working out, but i tend to get horizontal stripes in my footage. I don't know if this is a regular problem, but i'm curious if others noticed this as well. (OSX.3)
Also, I would like to superimpose text (live) on a live DV input. Which object would be the best to use for that?
Thanks already,
Sara
Just a guess (I don't have a DV cam): Probably this is the effect of interlacing. If there is a "progressive scan" mode on your cam, try that. Interlacing is not a good property of video for processing, but it happens on all PAL, NTSC and SECAM video stuff.

might happen, some refreshing problems in X11 i guess.

errr, it's called pdp_text ( tried to find a simpler name, but couldn't )) ) but first be sure you installed the fonts, step 5 of new INSTALL_NOTES, ( thank you for the one you did for first release, btw )

I'm willing to bet it's interlacing from the DV camera. There is a somewhat misleading QT hint flag that will give interlaced frames rather than a single progressive image.

do not disclose it !!
sorry, i had a hard time trying to find some doc on quicktime on that closed system...
cheers, sevy

Hi,
I'm having a problem with getting the text object running properly. I installed the font according Yves install notes, but when i try to use the text_help patch, it gives me only small rectangles instead of letters.
Also; we're trying to use dynamic text input via netreceive, but it doesn't seem to work:
pdp_text : add : wrong arguments
Is it actually possible to get dynamic text in the pdp_text object?
Thanks,
Sara
Hi,
pdp_ieee1394 is acting a little bit weird. [or maybe i'm doing something weird]. The first time i start to capture something everything works, but if i reset the capture [which works] and try to start it up again, it doesn't capture anymore and the window doesn't open. I get this message:
pdp_ieee1394: resetting.... pdp_ieee1394: set sequence grabber to : normal quality pdp_ieee1394: done.
pdp_ieee1394: opened default component pdp_ieee1394: initialized sequence grabber pdp_ieee1394: set data ref ok. pdp_ieee1394: could not create new sequence grabber channnel pdp_ieee1394: grabber initialization failed
The 1st time i get this:

Yeah, I commented on that earlier. Seems as though the pdp_ieee1394 object doesn't release all of the quicktime (sequencegrabber) resources properly, so currently you need to quit Pd and restart it to reset. ...at least, that's my understanding of it.
As for the window not opening, I generally found it useful to open the pdp_glx window manually with a [create( message in most of my fiddling about.

hi,
you can start and stop capture with open/close messages too and this works better.
suerte, sevy
