Cool. I was thinking of proposing to adopt the old extended icon for vanilla, but perhaps a fresher icon would make more sense.
To my tastes, I think the gradients are a bit too much. I’m a bit more of a fan of the flatter style ala

Yeah the gradient is probably a bit too dark. It looks better in context (in the dock, launchpad) vs against a white background. I'll lighten it up a bit.
