Hi list,
I wanna write comment in korean, but I can't do that. There is no font for korean. Many korean Pd users suffer from this problem...
On Mac OS X, if I have korean input method, with Pd no keyboard function. e.g: CMD+S
I think japanese has no problem with it. How to solve this issue? Install specific font for korean?
Screenshot: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/8142442/Pd-question/pd-korean-font/Scree...
broken korean pd patch: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/8142442/Pd-question/pd-korean-font/lang-... https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/8142442/Pd-question/pd-korean-font/lang-...
Thanks, Jonghyun Kim
Seems to work on Linux. (See screenshot) Will try on windows, which seems to be the most important platform here. the (tcl/tk?) input method is a bit funky, it works differently then elsewhere in the system. When I type the characters they only appear when the whole compound is finished. Anywhere else I can see the components individually forming the compound character.

[Linux] display[o] write[x] In Linux Pd displays Korean. I can see the korean, but still I can't write in korean.
[Mac OS X] display[x] write[x] In Mac OS X Pd do neither writing korean nor display...
I don't have Windows, so I can't test it.

So how do our Linux setups differ? Why can I write Hangul and you can't? I'm on Linux Mint 17 Cinnamon (I don't endorse/recommend that system, Cinnamon is unstable for me, freezing. May be that Mate or LMDE is better.)
A shot in the dark would be that I have some fonts installed that you don't have? Or something with the input method? I am using IBUS.

I tested Pd-extended 0.43-4 on MacOS X 10.9.4(Mavericks)
It displays korean correctly, but still there is korean input issue.
Issue.1: Input source hotkey disabled in Pd (MacOS X) The hotkey of Changing input source on Mac OS X is normaly CMD+SPACE. In Pd(both Vanilla Extended) can't change the input source.
Issue.2: Korean mapping Korean mapping issue. To write korean correctly, 2 or 3 partials make one character. But it shows the each partials separated. i.e: 한글(correct) ㅎ ㅏ ㄴ ㄱ ㅡ ㄹ(incorrect)

I didn't do that - there are quite some korean fonts available in the packages. I doubt that it could be the cause of the problem though - on the other hand: try it out (removing them).

Thanks max, I'll try it.

Hi Jonghyun and Pd list,
In my case, I can indicate Japanese in comment box but can't write(input) Japanese directly in it. I always copy and paste Japanese from the text editor.
I use Pd-extended 0.43.4 on Mac OS 10.9.4 mavericks.
In addition, I can save a patch with Cmd+S in both Japanese and English input method.
I also really want the direct writing to comment box.

Thanks for the info, Seiichiro.
I can't see and write Korean on MacOS, but on Linux I can. If I try to write Korean, Pd shows broken font.
As you said I can see Japanese on both MacOS and Linux. CMD+S don't work with Korean input method.
I wanna to do the direct Korean writing to comment box! CMS+S also.
