Hi guys, im doing a research of all the distorsion objects avaliable for pd. I found the following objects:
quatize , swap, dist, disto, foldover , exciter and zhzxh.
Am i missing something? Do you know if there are any other objects in pd for distorsion?
thanks in advance
Umberto
hello, i use tabread~ to create distortion.

Just typed "distortion" in my search-plugin* and (aside from some irrelevant links to the manual)
here's what I got:

Maybe a bit obvious, but i consider clip~ as a good object for distortion.

Hello,
multiplying by Chebyshev polynomials for clipping gives nice distortion effects on signals

distortion is a very wide definition -
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Distortion
it can be made with a specific external, or just with a [*~], going
through a nice transfer function...
you might be better off asking people for distortion patches, but that
depends what the goals of your research are.

tanh is a popular transfer function, as is cos, both of which approximate to linear for small signals but change for larger ones. Also check out using polynomials as transfers, some have very particular properties as to how they change the harmonics.

there are some non-linear distorters in my DIY library. My favourite is the 'shaper' function as found in the kurzweil K2000
That's _awesome_ :)

Hi guys , thanks for the replies, I was wondering if there are more waveshapers patches or abstractions outhere for pd?
I also was wondering if anybody have tried implemented dynamic waveshaping with Chebyshev polynomials? Which should be the best approach for this in pd?
thanks
