Is http://pure-data.sourceforge.netstill updated? I just made zexy from it and found it doesn't have [operating_system]. I'll try again with zexy from ftp://iem.at/pd/Externals/ZEXY . Although I don't see any record of OS being added in the release notes...

That stuff is not maintained. I think it should be folded into
puredata.org and pure-data.sourceforge.net should just redirect. But
others vetoed that idea. Maybe now is a good time to revisit that idea?

You mean the CVS is not maintained, or the web pages ? I think Chuckk got the sources from CVS, not from the web, as there are no sources there. I think pure-data.sf.net should list just information for developers and how to use the CVS, and not link to the whole puredata.org site. Of course we could setup something similar at puredata.org and link to it.

All that content is already on puredata.org. That sourceforge page
is just an old copy of things that hasn't been maintained since Oct.

Not updated != not maintained. I think the information there is still valuable and easier to access than the WIKI. I am also missing the information about the trackers on the WIKI, but maybe I just didn't look hard enough.

Ah, ok the trackers page isn't in puredata.org
http://pure-data.sourceforge.net/trackers.php
but it would be trivial to move it there. Something like:
http://puredata.org/dev/trackers
There is already a link to the bug tracker:

I would happily move that page to puredata.org if you agree that we
can redirect pure-data.sourceforge.net to puredata.org

I think that puredata.org needs a bit more work than just copying the link to the feature and patch trackers.
-) http://puredata.org/dev/ has several broken links (externals, abstraction, etc, etc.. -) what is the difference between puredata.org/dev and http://puredata.org/docs/developer/ ? its bad to have the information in two different places. maybe we can merge this. -) Instead(or in addition) of having a link to a list of bugs, the bug tracker should have a link to the bug submit page (same for feature request and patches).
In general I find the wiki pretty confusing, but maybe I am just too old and conservative. I would say we try to fix this, so that changing the link really is an improvement of the situation.

puredata.org/dev is not documentation, so it does not belong in the

things related to development, like links to the trackers, wiki pages
for certain projects (Gem, PDDP, etc).

Yes, its not perfectly organized, that's for sure. But most of it is
in wiki format, so its easy to update. People should jump in and
clean up areas that they know something about.

I don't follow... I wasn't trying to exagerate. I was referring to
the "pd-externals" section on the downloads page which has not been
updated since 2003-03-11.

I had no idea that it was maintained. I was just going the fact that
it links to some quite old stuff and by the timestamp on the pages:
Last Modified: October 19 2004 15:07:47 GMT
I personally want to avoid fighting over anything. If people want to
fight, I'll do something else. If you don't want change that site,
no problem. I don't really want to spend a long time discussing it,
I've said my two bits. But I would like it a lot if you (or anyone
for that matter) worked on organizing the puredata.org/dev section,
as long as we can agree on the basic premise. If you didn't notice,
I moved that stuff on the front page of /dev/ to /docs/developer/
Repositories since I think that makes more sense, like you said that
parts should be in the docs section. If that doesn't make sense, the
changes can easily be reverted back to the old site, Plone keeps a
history of everything AFAIK.
That's the idea of the wikis. Anyone can edit, and if a change is
not so good, it can be reverted.

All I know is every Google search turns up something different. If you Google the words pure data cyclone, the 7th link is the one that actually goes to cyclone. Practically every Pd external is on pure-data.sf.net, however it's in the CVS repository. See http://puredata.org/dev/cvs/ for how to use this directly.
