This has always been confusing to me, because the default bindings for tcl/tk does proper tabbing.
I just did a test using pack and grid and tabbing works fine, even with the wish included with PD.
I just looked through the tk code and can't see anything that would change that behavior, but I did notice that the cursor jumps to the first entry widget, this is not default behavior, perhaps this is whats causing the lack of tabbing... I can't see the code for that anywhere...

What do you mean with Tab doesn't work (how should it work) ?
When I'm filling out a form, like the properties box for a slider, hitting tab should move me to the next field. This makes it so I can fill out the form without removing my hands from the keyboard. Other tiny things like shift-arrow for hilighting the last word of
text aren't
as nice as they are with GNOME or Emacs either.
This is all doable with tcl/tk, It just needs someone to spot it, and someone to implement it (I think the GUI properties dialogs were done by Thomas Musil)

funnily enough shift-tab does work! (backwards tabbing) don't know if this helps you (but i understand your pain)
