Hi,
I am happy to announce a new bug fix release for [vstplugin~] - a Pd external for hosting VST2 and VST3 plugins on Windows, macOS and Linux.
It is available on Deken (search for "vstplugin~"). Please upgrade!
Here is the full change log: https://git.iem.at/pd/vstplugin/-/releases
Please report any issues at https://git.iem.at/pd/vstplugin/-/issues
Have fun!

BTW, [vstplugin~] can now be compiled for Apple M1, with a plugin bridge for 64-bit Intel plugins!
Unfortunately, I don't have access to an M1 (yet), so I couldn't really test it myself. One kind soul has done it for me and said that it seemed to work, but I would love to hear more reports!

Hi, christof !
i'm trying to install [vstplugin~] on a RPI 3+
(PD version is 0.54.1 - raspbian buster)
deken doesn't find any files compiled for ARM. trying "apt install pd-vstplugin~" doesn't work either
Do i have to try to compile it myself ? Or do i need a newer system ?

Wow, can I have that version too? What does it feature? :-)

Usually, deb package names omit the ~. But there is also no 'pd- vstplugin' in Debian/Raspbian/Raspberry Pi OS.
Do i have to try to compile it myself ?
I tried and failed at:
/home/pi/pd-src/vstplugin/vst/Search.cpp:77:4: error: #error "CPU architecture not supported (yet)" 77 | #error "CPU architecture not supported (yet)" | ^~~~~
Or do i need a newer system ?
Probably not. I wonder if it is possible at all to compile it on archs that are not explicitly supported by the VST SDKs.

Hi Oli,
there is no Linux ARM support for [vstplugin~] (yet). Do you actually have any VST plugins that are compiled for this platform?

Actually no, i thought i'd like to try [vstplugin~] first, and see how far i will get ;-)
there is an article about using vsts on a PI
https://www.matrixsynth.com/2021/04/how-to-use-windows-vst-plugins-on-linux....
so i figured there must be some possibility to do so
will do some more research
anyway, thanks for your quick reply !

Ah, yes. Using Windows VST plugins on a Raspberry Pi is certainly a fun idea :-)
Actually, [vstplugin~] has a built-in plugin bridge and winelib is also available for ARM, so you would not even need a third-party plugin wrapper.
The first step, however, is to add Linux ARM support to [vstplugin~]. This should be rather trivial, given that Apple M1 is already supported. Please open a feature request on GitLab!
