actually, you _can_ download the pd-list archive as a block, the (undocumented ?) links are:
http://iem.at/mailinglists/pd-list.tgz (9.3MB) and http://iem.at/mailinglists/pd-list.zip (49.MB)
(same content, different comnpression)
those files should be updated every night.

For frustrated Pd list archive searchers: http://google.com/search?num=50&q=++site%3Aiem.kug.ac.at+iem+pd++
A good bookmark or linkbar link or whatever your browser uses.
Why?
- Pd list archive search http://iem.kug.ac.at/mailinglists/pd-list/
is quite slow. For folks as impatient as me, Google is the solution.
- the archive files can't be easily downloaded as a block
- puts search burden on fast distributed machines on a fast backbone.
Notes: "+pd" term selects only Pd lists at iem. "++" puts spaces in the search form. Saves typing. "+iem" term stops ads in search results.
Suggestions for other, better search tools are invited.
Excellent.
But the sister files aren't available: http://iem.at/mailinglists/pd-ot.tgz (404) http://iem.at/mailinglists/pd-ot.zip (404)
http://iem.at/mailinglists/pd-dev.tgz (404) http://iem.at/mailinglists/pd-dev.zip (404)
http://iem.at/mailinglists/pd-announce.tgz (404) http://iem.at/mailinglists/pd-announce.zip (404)
I think this is why newsgroups are better - incremental update, centralized, universally accessible, history maintained, locally searchable.

PD-list mailing list PD-list@iem.at to manage your subscription (including un-subscription) see http://iem.at/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/pd-list
Not in mbox format: they're website archives, and end 2002-08 The 'site' is not easily searchable without a local webserver running with a cgi-bin search app. Not easily convertible back to mbox. Indexes require rebuilding with makeindex which works in cygwin.
