hi,
Just got back from the amazing pd workshop at Netherlands Media Art Institute.
Frank got pdp working on my machine, fedora core 1 planet ccrma. I came home and tried to get it working and nothing connected up again. I "think"have built an ok ~./pcrc.
Can you remember what you did frank?

Hey Dominic,
just cause you had some beers with us doesn't mean you are exempt from normal mailing-list problem solving proceedure! ;-)

So, if you could please be a bit more descriptive, post the errors you get in the terminal [remember the middle-button trick, right?], a copy of your .pdrc file, and maybe also type "lsmod" in a terminal and tell us what that says, and I bet we can get you straightened right out.
cheers, d.
Hi ! To the list !
I installed Fedora core everything working so far.
I wanted to examine my new skills concerning CVS but.........
Do you know if the server was down on Sunday and monday ??
I always got "Authenticatin failed" with anonymous..
Does that happen sometimes with the sourceforge-cvs-server.
Thanks again for the inspiration and the pleasing atmosphere at the PD Workshop and hi to all !
Luigi

What command do you exactly use? The docs on http://pure-data.sourceforge.net/developer.php aren't correct anymore. I'm currently overhauling them. You should follow the instructions on the project page here: http://sourceforge.net/cvs/?group_id=55736

Now they should be correct again. Shift-reload.

the ssh access is still working, although i haven't been able to access the cvs web interface ... moving the cvs to a reliable server should be a pretty high priority for us...
cheers...

You might want to post your current .pdrc as well. You need to specify the full path to "pdp.pd_linux" withouth that .pd_linux in your .pdrc
Example 1:
-lib /usr/lib/pd/externs/pdp
Example 2 as a better alternative:
-path /usr/lib/pd/externs -lib pdp

hey

ah well if it's frank who installed it ... :))))))
I "think"have built an ok ~./pcrc.
to be sure your .pdrc is ok do this as root:
updatedb locate pdp.pd_linux
you should get something like /a/fancy/demonstration/path/pdp.pd_linux
then check your .pdrc (it's an invisible file located in your home directory, /home/dominic/.pdrc for example)
you should have those lines: -path /a/fancy/demonstration/path/ -lib pdp
or
-lib /a/fancy/demonstration/path/pdp.pd_linux
then when running pd as user you should get this in the terminal:
PDP: pure data packet PDP: version 0.12.3
Can you remember what you did frank?
maybe frank was running it directly from the terminal with pd -lib /a/fancy/demonstration/path/pdp.pd_linux ?...
anyway, more details needed to help you ...
