Thanks for adding the webcams of the convention, I really wish that I was there, but hope to follow the convention as best possible remotely. An audio feed would be nice, maybe a shoutcast, mu3? Plus cam4 is sideways, if anyone there is reading this could you straighten it out. What is an IRC and how do I use it?
Also I noticed there were some question marks next to the installations section of some artists, me being one of them. If anyone wants to download my installation to try it out http://puredata.info/Members/cypod/patches
Also Her in San Francisco on Saturday there will be a "Love Parade," in the electronic music spirit that evening I will be dedicated my vj set to the Graz Convention. http://drummachine.com/LMSF04.html

here's our audio feed: http://stream.kunstlabor.at:5800/khlive

been meaning to do that since then - but had not time so far. will do now... check it out! http://cam4.kunstlabor.at/

that's almost like saying "what's email - and how do i use it?" ;-) my point is that IRC is an internet service like email (usenet, ftp, ssh...), ie a very basic one which has been around for quite a while. it pays to know it.
okok.. summary: IRC stands for International Relay Chat and it is a chat system for 1:N, ie one talks - N people listen.
you'd have to install an IRC client to be able to connect to one of the many IRC servers out there. one of them is ours at irc.kunstlabor.at. commands start with a slash character, eg "/server", "/list #puredata", "/join puredata" or "/whois sveng".
graphical irc clients make it easier for users to use the mouse and click onto buttons, but... ymmv.
for more info see the site http://www.irchelp.org/

thanks :-)

i think you're talking about [textfile] or [msgfile]. i think it's not possible, because a message 'add2 one two, three four' is splitted in two separate msgs 'add2 one two' and 'three four'. so you get a 'no method for three'-error. i don't know your intention, but in pd you can't handle with a comma as character. if you want to use the text-file in another programm, so try to find a suitable substitution for the comma, that you can convert in the other program back to comma. (see attached file)

'add2 one two, three four' would work, but to do that one has to edit the pd patch by hand using a text editor (since Pd does not allow to type a backslash into a message box)... In the text editor it has to look like: "add2 one two\, three four"!

hi roman, olaf,
thx for your answers - but this means i can not dynamically generate a multiple message were the single messages are separated via a comma ?

you might be able to do it with the [shell] object and a simple shell script

Hello, I'm not sure is this is a great place to ask, but I was wondering if anyone knew about a program called 'Metasynth'? I was wondering if this program is able to track live image input (i.e. from a webcam)? If anyone knows anything about this, it would be much appreciated.
Many thanks, Owen Cartwright

I have no idea, but pd could handle this quite well - using gem or pdp/pidip ;)

-I have MetaSynth, but it's not capable of doing this. It's more like an 'audio-panting-program'. and it's not realtime. However a nice program in itself.

metasynth is NOT capable of tracking live video not last time i checked. try pdp, gem and the rest of the pack ;) r
What you could do is to use add combined with a receive.
so
[here comes a list of symbols you want to add to the message out of] | [add target $1( | [(empty at first)(
[r target] | [object your want to sent your message to]
Does this make sense? You now create multiple messages that send your symbols to your target.

hello,
there is an [add2_comma] object in Iemlib2, which prepends your message with "add2 , ".
