Is there a way to generate a listing from the Pure Data Base at http://iem.kug.ac.at/pdb/ (or from somewhere else) of the available externals, including where they're found and their descriptions? The best that I've been able to get from the interface are either a list of the names without other information, requiring me to click on each to see what they do, or string searches which tend to miss descriptions that don't use the same wording that I guess. The PC on which I use PD isn't online, and it would be good to be able to download a listing and either print it out or sneakernet it over to that computer so I can check it out offline.
Possible?
hello,
there is a backdoor
to print out all externals with the
descriptions and URLs. Try
http://iem.kug.ac.at/pdb/query.html?ext=y&alb=y&qry=complete

It seems to me that none of the recently announced contributions are in this list. Is it meant to be for all available externs, or only for well-tested stable ones? How do we submit an entry into the list?

sorry - i have been lazy in updating the list. i shall go through the latest postings ..
but it would help if you developers send me a mail of complain if i forgot your work - and i am sure i forgot a lot ...
imho all externs which are "published" - ie. developers supply a download link for - shall be in the list, nobody can definitely decide about the stability of a piece of code.
i hate to make promises but i think i shall make an online form for develpoers to register their work themselves.

Maybe you could abuse the PD-Wiki for this. Or ist there already a hidden place where external announcements are collected?
