Hallo!
I know this is an old issue - but I can't get it work here again on me new upgrated system ...
When I try to load a mjpeg in pdp_qt it is crashing (and I could play the same movie some month ago with pdp_qt - it is also playing with lqtplay ...)
gdb say the following: ------------8<------------------- Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault. yes, this looks like a libquicktime error, but why is lqtplay then playing the same movie and is there a workaround for this (without going back to lqt 0.9.1)?

ola,
ya, hum, good infos for debugging ))
but, i suggest, as you propose two different ways :
see you in norway cand congrats for your work on pd radio )
cheers, sevy

Hallo Yves!
but, i suggest, as you propose two different ways :
- using photo JPEGs compressed movies ?
well, I recorded the files some month ago with [pdp_rec~] and [compressor jpeg( - so I guess it is already photo jpeg !?
- reverting to a previous libquicktime ?
isn't there an other solution? also for the future ... I'm not so familiar with libquicktime and [pdp_qt], but as it is working with lqtplay shouldn't it also be possible in pdp ? (any hints for debugging is greatly appreciated ...)
see you in norway
yes - I'm curious about it !
cand congrats for your work on pd radio )
thanks ;)
LG Georg
Hallo again!
just tried [pdp_rec~] because I also need it and I also get a crash and really the same backtrace as with [pdp_qt] ... (see below)
So, my question: I am not forced to use quicktime - I need it for a live performance, where I record video and audio live and then play then back in a condensed form (so with many videos at the same time ...)
I know you only work with theora now, so is this also possible with theora? Doesn't it use much more CPU for de/encoding (I only tried it very short - and in my performance my computer is on the limit ...) and it is not really possible to seek in it, right?
If it is possible, I will of course also switch to theora (only wanted to hear your opinion, before I reprogram everything) - otherwise I will try to debug [pdp_qt]/[pdp_rec~] in some way ... ?
Thanks, LG Georg
PS: Backtrace with [pdp_rec~] (when I try to start to record ...)

not really surprised...
So, my question: I am not forced to use quicktime - I need it for a live performance, where I record video and audio live and then play then back in a condensed form (so with many videos at the same time ...)

you're right for both questions : theora is mas pesado and you cannot seek in it easily. for the first issue ( the performances ), we're hopping optimisations of theora libraries, for the second issue, i'm afraid there is little to do.
If it is possible, I will of course also switch to theora (only wanted to hear your opinion, before I reprogram everything) - otherwise I will try to debug [pdp_qt]/[pdp_rec~] in some way ... ?
uff, that's very difficult, the difference with lqtplay comes from the fact of using some real rime options or somehing like that ( i'm quoting this from Tom's experience of debugging libquicktime, but Tom seems to have vanished anyway ). i can only advise to use a stable libquicktime ( 0.9.1 )
suerte, sevy
Thanks, LG Georg

btw: what is the difference between libquicktime1 and libquicktime0 ? whichone should I install?

Hallo Yves!
sorry for all that unnecessary complaints - it works now, also with libquicktime0.9.7 ... I only recompiled libquicktime+pdp+pidip on my upgraded system ...
just some remarks on compiling pdp (only for the record):
