hi,
here's the sunday delivery :
shoutamp~ is an icecast/shoutcast(soon) client for PD. it is co-authored by Olaf Matthes & I.
it has only been tested with icecast on linux.
it should be quite ok for shoutcast.
BUT, there's a problem ( reported by Olaf ) with MP3 decoding on Windows, so mp3live~ and shoutamp~ are not available for windowers.
Here's the state-of-the-art for MP3 streaming :
PD <------> PD : mp3streamout~/mp3streamin~ [ mp3live~ ] PD --------> Shoutcast/Icecast : shoutcast~ Shoutcast/Icecast -----> PD : shoutamp~ PD ------> File : mp3write~ File -----> PD : mp3fileout~/mp3streamin~ [ mp3live~ ]
I'm sorry not to mention d_mp3 but i only had bad sound with it. It's even not compatible with mp3live~ and shoutamp~ due to the rewritting of lame's decoding routines.
Enjoy !!!

hello yves,
i experienced some stability issues with shoutamp~. pd often crashes when opening a stream. sometimes it crashes after a while (minutes or some 10 minutes).
also shoutamp~ doesn't play low bitrate streams.
i'm very new to pd: is it possible to automatically resample shoutamp~ output to 44100 khz (or another fixed sample rate), if i don't know the sample rate of the incoming stream?
how could i open shoutcast streams (which have no filename / mountpoint)?
besides thes stability issue it works very well.

more about circumstances ??? i don't experience this on a LAN. i guess it's an input shortage.
also shoutamp~ doesn't play low bitrate streams.
how low are they ?? did not test all of them.

no, resampling is not supported [yet].

today's release supports this, you have to use "shoutcast" as the mountpoint. but, you've got to update.
cheers,

i've tested it with remote streams, but we have a good connection to the outside world (> 100mbits). it crashed with all kinds of streams, sometimes right after connecting, sometimes after some hours. i could send you the patch (it's mixing several streams together and rebroadcasts with shoutcast)

i could not test it now, but i think 24kbps and below.

no, resampling is not supported [yet].
So it's not possible to mix a 16khz stream with 44.1khz audio?
