Hi All,
Is it possible to release a 32 bit build of else lib for linux in Deken? I see there's a 32 bit windows and mac option but only 64 bit linux.
best Richie
Hi, I can't build for 32bit Linux, but a couple of people usually do that and send me it so I can upload to deken.
Please let me manage uploading the package files, cause if you upload them yourself, I won't be able to delete them and upgrade them.
Thanks

Hi, I still consider this as a highly experimentar project, still in Beta phase. When releasing a final version, I plan to keep them all listed in the server, but I don't think it is productive to pollute the server with beta releases. In fact, the main reason behind me uploading to the server right now is cause I wanted to make it easy for my students to download the package. If I wasn't teaching a course these days, I don't think I'd upload any update. And then I wen ahead and made 5 updates, just because of this course and the new things I did cause I had this motivation to give them new things.
Now, having said all that, my plans are to think about the final release already, so the next update should come as a "release candidate" I hope.
cheers
For all that is worth, I still keep the other earlier beta versions releases and its compiled binaries for download at https://github.com/porres/pd-else/releases - and also tagged alpha releases down to alpha 2 (which is as good as alpha 1).

you don't need to compile Pd to compile an external.
Good point while I understand the principle I still don't know all the steps/ software required to do so.

Or, Patrick, can't you also build for regular 32 bits?
I'm not sure if I'm too late for the game, but I made deken packages for Linux-i386-32 of the version 1.0-beta-6. You can download them here:
https://www.netpd.org/~roman/deken-packages/
@Alex:
I think I read you wanted to upload them yourself, so I didn't do that part.
Please let me report some minor things I encountered during building/packaging (I haven't tested the actual objects). Please adhere to the established standard for the meta file and don't add a semicolon to the tags (use VERSION, not VERSION:). This way all meta files are parsable by the same script. The file else-v1.0beta6-objects.txt contains an 'x' at the end of every line. Lines are ended with CR, sounds like classic Mac OS. Also, the version in meta is '1.0-beta-6', that means the object list should be named 'else-v1.0-beta-6- objects.txt'.

Hm.. the packages you already uploaded use '1.0beta6' as version string. So maybe you want to adapt the name of my packages before uploading. Please reflect the correct version also in the meta file.
Roman
thanks, will do all that for next release. Now this is up in https://github.com/porres/pd-else/releases/tag/v1.0-beta6
but i'll only be able to upload to deken next week (really)
cheers

Hi, I finally uploaded the 32 bit Linux version Patrick provided me to deken, sorry for taking too long, been busy as hell these days.
So, now I got 5 compiled packs up there. A mac, a windows one and 3 linuxes (arm7-32 / amd64-64 / i386-32) - are there still any other Linux one to be uploaded? What about Windows? About Mac, I know you can have a ppc one, but I'm not minding that.
cheers

Hi Roman, can you please delete these from this link, since I already have something up in deken? And also, I'm actually about to release beta7, but my computer that I used to compile for windows/linux and upload to deken is dead, so I'd really need some help like this for this one ;) - one of the new objects I made specially for you [dir], so you could really help me out on that :D
thanks

I'm getting help from others, and some versions of else 7 might be popping up in deken in a moment... but please just delete these one way or another
thanks

Deletion: done!
I'm not sure yet what you specifically need help with. If you want me to create a build for Linux-i386-32, just let me know.

yep! Linux-i386-32 please. Patrick sent me for raspbery pi already, I still needed windows and linux 64 bits if anyone else could do that for me. I'll ask Lucas for the windows build.
cheers

Got that already... so only missing linux 32 bits and windows (which I asked Lucas for already)
so, yeah, lucas gave me already a windows build, so I'm only missing this linux 32bit one from you ;)

No need for making objects for me just to make me help you ;-)
Anyway, [dir] is neat and I can use it to replace both [ggee/getdir] and [moocow/readdir] because it is relative to patch (and not to relativ to Pd's start dir). Thanks.
Roman
haha, well, to be honest, I did this for me too you know ;) - now I can replace both [getdir] and [playlist] with it and still have other features I needed.
what I like doing is just throw a bunch of audio files in a subfolder (relative to the patch's folder) and pick them randomly. With [dir] I can easily navigate to that folder, check how many files are in there and then pick them randomly!
I didn't know [moocow/readdir], but I thought it was buggy as I couldn't get it to give me a file with "seek"...
A nice feature to have in [dir] in the future is ask it to find just specific file extensions in a folder!
cheers
