Hello PD community,
Lately I have been experiencing audio drops on my powerbook, but not my desktop? Is this something other users of OSX have had problems with. One idea that I had was to increase the latency, what command line option can I use to set latency at start up?

First, which versions of OSX and Pd are you using?

Hia, I am using: Pd version 0.39-2 OSX 10.4.8 1.5 Ghz PowerPC G4 processor 1.25 GB DDR SDRAM I am running a new version of net-pd: iemlib1 (R-1.16) library loaded! And when I run the same combination of patches on my winxp 2.2Ghz AMD, 1GB ram desktop top it is fine, with no glitches or drops. Which is cool if I want to play at home since the desktop is connected to the stereo anyway, but a drag if I want to play out and don't want to bring the desktop along.

Make sure that the "defeat real-time scheduling" box is not checked
in the "Startup" preferences. That's important on Mac OS X to get
click-free performance.

Strange but true. I switched the pd binary from netpd (0.39-2) with an older version of pd-extended (0.38-4) and have noticed some reduced glitching? It was a little tricky because I had to load the _chat.pd manually, but other than that it seemed to work. Next I plan to try and start netpd from Miller's latest distro Pd version 0.40-1 compiled for Macintosh OSX 10.4 (i386 or ppc) (5 Megabytes).

This comes way late, but I've had _way_ fewer glitches with Pd 0.39.2 and later running Jack on OS X.

another story about pd on osx, can't remember the version, i think it was pd-extended 0.39-2: a friend of mine had installed pd on a powerboo half a year ago, and from the beginning she had bad regular glitches in the sounds, like triggered from a [metro 500] or so. although she asked many geeks about that, nobody could help. last week we tried to run pd with jack, and guess what? no glitches anymore....
