Hello,
This is an interesting one:

Build it yourself, there currently aren't any official 64-bit binaries
because there is no 64-bit machine in the build farm. If someone
would either donate a 64-bit machine or figure out how to host a 64- bit build on a 32-bit machine, then we could add official 64-bit builds.
I have not personally created a good enough binary on amd64 yet, and I have been caught up with too many other things since the new year and the move of the amd64 machine I was working on.
Has anyone got a 64-bit binary ready that would be good enough as a 64-bit release (John Harisson was hosting one)? Hosting it couldn't be easier: Reprepro will automatically figure out the architecture (if the deb is done properly) and will put it in the right place.
You can have access to the repo from a 32-bit machine:
In the /etc/apt/sources.list
deb http://something - stands for the standard architecture
deb-src http://something - stands for the source ARCHITECTURE, since source is considered a different architecture in DEB repositories.
deb-amd64 http://something - amd64 architecture on i386 machines
deb-i386 http://something - i386 on amd64 machines.
This is especially useful with apt-mirror for mirroring repos.
If by "hosting" you mean hosting the nightly build or so, how about target architecture? Building for amd64 on an i386 by getting all the necessary amd64 libs?
I thought the only problem was that some things didn't work yet on amd64, not the actual hosting.

I have a .deb and corresponding directions for building. The .deb was built on a 64 bit Hardy machine. It worked for my purposes and I didn't find anything broken but I can't say whether it is good enough for release without further testing. Since I made that .deb I updated my machine from 64 bit Hardy to 32 bit Intrepid so I'm not in a great position to continue building and development of a 64 bit release, but I am glad to help out if there is a place for me.
.deb and instructions: http://cratel.wichita.edu/cratel/cratel_Pd_extended_on_bit_64_Debian-based_O... (to be moved to the Pd wiki within the week)

As of today, I have regained access to an Ubuntu Hardy amd64 machine. I will download and test John Harrison's deb next week.
I can host the deb on the OtherSide Ubuntu APT if this is fine with you John.
If anybody else wants to test that deb, please let us know of your findings.

I managed to make pd working (more or less) too but I had several
problems , so I decide to install the 32 bits version of ubuntu hardy
and now all the externals are loaded.
I will probably get a new computer for this project soon and then I
will maybe use this 64 bits machine to try and test the .deb (possibly
to contribute to build it too).

On Hans' suggestion, I started a wiki page on our pd wiki concerning building pd-extended for 64 bit:
http://puredata.info/docs/developer/64BitLinux
My hope is that all of us add to it until the directions are solid, then we add a 64 bit Linux machine to the build farm.
Slightly OT: I had some troubles figuring out our Pd wiki. It's supposed to be MoinMoin syntax and I know MoinMoin well, but:
* the ways I know to make borders appear on a table (which happen by
default on Moin anyway) didn't work for me, so the tables on the
above wiki link don't have borders. Anybody know how to add
borders to these tables?
* I couldn't seem to attach the resulting .deb file. Is it possible
to have attachments to on the Pd wiki?
I looked for examples of tables and attachments on the Pd wiki and came up dry on a quick search.
