Hi all. I'm running the latest pd on Win98se, with an SBLive and Echo Mia.
Loading pd, no switches gives me: "midiInOpen: MMSYSTEM002 A device ID has been used that is out of range for your system."
I just need MIDI In, MIDI Out, and Audio Out of the Mia, all of which are #1's on the -listdev listing.
After using Max/MSP for the past few years, I'm really looking forward to digging into pd. Since pd has control of multiple outs, has anyone created any surround patches?
Thanks, Chris
Hiya..
I got this error while having Native Instruments Reaktor installed (and letting the authorisation time out). Disabling it in Multimedia solved the problem. Have you checked if MIDI I/O works anyway with Mia?
What other MIDI devices are in your system? (-listdev)

hi, I also got this error with pd 0.34 on a win98. I'm not using any reaktor or native instruments things, though. could it be something with the ASIO drivers ?
other questions: is there a way of manually configuring pd-midi-stuff under windows ? are there any software drivers for gameports that worked so far ?
cheers

Try specifying the MIDI I/O you wish to use with the options -midiindev and -midioutdev to find out witch port(s) is causing the trouble. This is AFAIK also the only way you can manually configure 'pd-midi-stuff' in Windows (which should also answer the second question).
