The ALSA project (http://www.alsa-project.org) gets loaner hardware and complete documentation for writing drivers from RME for all their products. They are extremely cooperative. As soon as the PCMCIA hammerfallish thing is commercially available, the ALSA folks will probably start on the driver. All those who perform or do on-location recording with Linux are eagerly awaiting this development. Of course, once there is an ALSA driver, Pd will work with it automatically, assuming Pd gets ported to ALSA 0.9.x.
Considering that two years ago we all felt lucky to have drivers for our Sound Blasters, all is well.

there is this new RME Multiface soundcard/breakout box available now for PCMCIA and PCI interface cards. The design seems to resemble the traditional Hammerfall 9652 a lot. Can the pd (and/or ALSA) sound drivers be used with the new combo as well?
