There is also Loopback: https://www.rogueamoeba.com/loopback/ https://www.rogueamoeba.com/loopback/. I have used Audio Hijack from the same developers and it works well.
In any case, if you can use JACK it will still be a better solution.

sound syphon might work, I use it (the free version) for simple things/connections

and I dont see a free version anymore... :/ but I see they support catalina
maybe I have an earlier version (sound syphon 2) where they still had this free version
